1:10:03 or used to train a commercial model and will the student be
1:10:08 limited to district
1:10:09 approved platforms and when will parents be notified or asked
1:10:14 for consent we
1:10:18 can’t communicate back and forth but when you’re finished I

1:10:30 nothing really in

1:11:20 approval of minutes is ministerial so it is not open to public

1:11:28 it’s on public record because you guys are doing a disservice to
1:11:31 the Brevard
1:11:32 public school district and the students but I will speak about
1:11:35 something else on
1:11:36 the agenda okay I’m gonna speak about g1 would you like to look

1:11:40 sure it’s on the agenda yes yeah you should stop my minutes

1:11:49 didn’t tell me you’re the one that we’re waiting okay I’m gonna
1:11:52 talk about the
1:11:53 expulsion and the diversion program that you have been treating
1:11:57 our public school
1:11:58 students to and I’m also going to explain to your constituents
1:12:01 why none of
1:12:02 the students ever show up when they’re being expelled from
1:12:04 school I’m gonna
1:12:06 read something from the diversion program contract that’s also
1:12:08 in the
1:12:09 behavioral contract that’s given to students that’s put on this
1:12:12 program it
1:12:14 is meant for the students to be expelled and it’s also meant to
1:12:16 mute them from
1:12:17 being able to talk in front of the board about what’s going on
1:12:20 so if your child
1:12:22 winds up on a behavioral program or the diversion program they
1:12:26 are not allowed
1:12:27 to speak in front of the board about their expulsion because in
1:12:30 order to sign
1:12:31 the contract you have to agree not to speak in front of the
1:12:35 board so I’m
1:12:36 gonna read it to you the student and their parents hereby waive
1:12:42 their right
1:12:42 to the due process hearing before the school board of Brevard
1:12:45 County and do
1:12:46 consent to the entry of the final order of expulsion by the
1:12:49 school board of
1:12:50 Brevard County Florida and its meeting without further necessity
1:12:54 of taking
1:12:55 testimony or conducting any further hearing in the matter if you
1:12:58 do not
1:12:59 agree to that in this contract then you have to abide by the
1:13:05 following I decline
1:13:08 the dissident disciplinary placement provided by Barvard Public
1:13:12 Schools I
1:13:12 understand that is my responsibility to enroll my child in an
1:13:16 educational
1:13:17 program of my choice within five school days of the date of this
1:13:20 meeting failure
1:13:21 to do so will result in a full expulsion from the Brevard Public
1:13:25 Schools and the
1:13:26 parent has to pay for either home education adult education or
1:13:31 private
1:13:31 school thus I feel the contract is extremely biased and benefits
1:13:36 Brevard
1:13:36 Public School District and doesn’t allow your constituents
1:13:40 students or parents to
1:13:41 discuss what happens with the disciplinary program in addition
1:13:47 you
1:13:48 guys are making the disciplinary program exceptionally more
1:13:52 punitive this upcoming
1:13:54 next work when they discuss the workshop so students are going
1:13:57 to be finding out
1:13:57 that they’re gonna have additional punishments because of what
1:14:00 you guys are
1:14:01 deciding to do thank you thank you Paul Ralph and Sandra Picard
1:14:11 evening a couple
1:14:20 of items under the umbrella of g1 as far as part number 5771 the
1:14:28 search and
1:14:28 seizure amendments there is a section in there that authorizes
1:14:34 random searches of
1:14:36 selected segments of the population I think was the other
1:14:39 student population I
1:14:40 think was the exact wording which is pretty vague I understand
1:14:43 we can’t
1:14:43 prescribe everything but I would like to hear hopefully we get
1:14:46 to discussion what
1:14:47 kind of guardrails there might be around that random selection
1:14:50 is it truly random
1:14:51 what does segments of the population mean are gonna be tracking
1:14:54 that kind of
1:14:55 things we do have some history of disproportionate punitive
1:15:00 measures in
1:15:00 some schools and some segments of the population over others so
1:15:03 I would I
1:15:04 would like to know how we’re keeping an eye on that and then on
1:15:08 to you 7 75 40
1:15:09 point oh eight the AI policy it’s one part procedural on one
1:15:17 part that the
1:15:18 content of the policy concerns me procedurally mr. Susan on the
1:15:23 the fire
1:15:24 of Liberty show which is guess can name things you mentioned
1:15:30 that you brought in
1:15:31 noted AI expert the chairman of the local chapter pumps for
1:15:34 Liberty to
1:15:35 consult on the AI on the AI policy and in fact rescheduled
1:15:40 additive add an
1:15:40 extra hearing on it at their request not clear what actually
1:15:45 went into that but I
1:15:46 haven’t heard of any other organizations particularly with any
1:15:48 organizations that
1:15:49 would actually have expertise in this area or are not opposed to
1:15:53 the free flow
1:15:54 of information that’s just you know odd little thing to flex on
1:15:59 but as far as
1:16:01 the actual nature of the policy the fact that it specifies and I
1:16:05 believe
1:16:06 restricts us to closed AI models specifically makes me wonder if
1:16:13 someone
1:16:14 more technical hadn’t been consulted on this or with that might
1:16:18 sound comforting
1:16:20 that we’re going with commercial entities and they’re vetted or
1:16:22 whatever
1:16:22 they’re bought by other people but we’re talking about things
1:16:25 being brought into
1:16:26 the classroom into you know part of our students education
1:16:29 interacting with
1:16:30 their data etc that our data sets we can’t see code we cannot
1:16:35 evaluate and
1:16:37 also you know there’s there’s profit model test there’s a
1:16:41 business model
1:16:41 attached not that may not may or may not in any way coincide
1:16:46 with the best
1:16:47 interest of the students whereas with open models most of the
1:16:52 all those
1:16:52 problems go away the code is available the data sets are
1:16:55 available they’ll lag
1:16:56 slightly in performance but this is a school this isn’t NASA we
1:17:00 don’t need to
1:17:01 be on the very very cutting edge when generally the open models
1:17:04 catch up in
1:17:04 performance in several months and the cost is far far lower as
1:17:10 well so I would
1:17:12 love for that to get some reconsideration thank you

1:17:45 more to do with the educational facilities impact allocation

1:17:56 with elsewhere

1:18:02 thank you and really it’s just a matter of congratulating miss

1:18:10 black who were brave enough to take their show on the road with
1:18:16 an
1:18:17 exploratory group at stone middle school last week where we were
1:18:24 educated as to
1:18:25 the facts of life about what maybe needs to be done to keep our
1:18:31 students in the
1:18:32 public school system so my hats off to them and I thank them the
1:18:37 one thing I
1:18:38 noticed is that the calculations that go into looking at
1:18:43 available money seem to
1:18:46 be retrospective it’s a five-year circulating system where we
1:18:52 look at how
1:18:54 many students we’ve had and therefore we sort of guess that
1:18:58 things will be about
1:18:59 the same we’re still in an area of Florida with explosive growth
1:19:05 I think
1:19:06 Palm Bay has an even greater issue in some ways than Melbourne
1:19:11 but with my
1:19:13 heart belonging to stone middle school I would just point out
1:19:18 that that area has
1:19:20 360 acres under construction at the moment within a mile of the
1:19:28 school and
1:19:29 so I know that for some people looking at the raw utilization
1:19:34 number which
1:19:35 looks to be under 50% at the moment may sort of say well here
1:19:42 let’s get our
1:19:43 chopping our chopping tool out and reduce that school but I just
1:19:49 want to say there’s
1:19:50 a lot going on and I know that the attention of the facilities
1:19:54 team is
1:19:55 looking west of 95 but I just want to say there’s still some
1:20:01 area south of the
1:20:03 main city of Melbourne that still warrants attention and
1:20:11 investment thank you that
1:20:14 concludes agenda items only for public comments we thank you for
1:20:17 taking your
1:20:17 time off your schedule to address the board with your concerns
1:20:20 and suggestions
1:20:21 I would like to remind the public that the board is accessible
1:20:23 for further
1:20:24 conversations outside of our business meeting through scheduling
1:20:27 a meeting and
1:20:27 emailing us we are now onto the consent agenda dr. Rindell thank

1:22:00 special needs we do
1:22:01 have some officials from rivers Riverstone here so I’d like to

1:22:04 the opportunity to speak and address the board and the community
1:22:09 this is a great
1:22:11 thing from our County we’ve never had a separate day school
1:22:13 operated by the
1:22:14 district before and I’ll go misty and the crew talk about that I
1:22:19 think I’m a
1:22:20 little short here so good evening I’d like to extend my sincere
1:22:25 appreciation
1:22:25 to the board chair board members dr. Rendell and all the members
1:22:30 sitting back
1:22:30 there
1:22:36 height deficit so in 2023 I invited the board to join me on a
1:22:44 field trip and all
1:22:47 of you showed up that were on the board at that time and we
1:22:50 visited neighboring
1:22:51 separate day school and I think that vision that excuse me that
1:22:56 visit helped
1:22:56 us envision what was possible and reaffirmed what we already
1:23:00 knew that our
1:23:01 students deserve the same opportunities as all other students
1:23:05 and so they can
1:23:06 have the same pride in the school that they attend and get the
1:23:10 same resources
1:23:11 as everybody else throughout this journey of building this new
1:23:14 school I’d
1:23:14 be remiss if I didn’t recognize a few individuals whose guidance
1:23:17 has been
1:23:18 instrumental in this progress mr. Raymer in this hand they
1:23:23 provided consistent
1:23:24 leadership and support throughout the development of this new
1:23:27 school their
1:23:27 encouragement expertise and dedication has played a significant
1:23:31 role in the new
1:23:31 school of River stones growth and I’m truly grateful for all
1:23:35 that they have
1:23:36 done so I’d like to recognize miss Poli and miss O’Connor for
1:23:39 their leadership
1:23:40 along the way their hard work and dedication and commitment to
1:23:44 our students
1:23:45 have strengthened the school year after year but without the
1:23:48 teachers at that
1:23:49 school the school wouldn’t exist so why I would say thank you to
1:23:56 everybody my
1:23:57 heart really pours out to the teachers they show up every single
1:24:01 day and they
1:24:02 give their all to those students and those students are better
1:24:05 because of it
1:24:05 and the bar is better because of it so as we move forward as
1:24:09 Riverstone k-12
1:24:10 school I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together I truly
1:24:14 believe
1:24:15 that Riverstone will one day be a model school the one that
1:24:18 others learn from
1:24:19 and come to visit us and we don’t have to visit them more
1:24:22 importantly it’ll
1:24:24 continue to be a place where students feel valued supported and
1:24:27 every
1:24:27 opportunity given to be successful to the board and dr. Rendell

1:24:32 again for believing in this vision from the very beginning your

1:25:28 new campus in
1:25:29 just a few short months the decision wasn’t made quickly or
1:25:33 lightly it
1:25:34 reflects the voices of students families staff and community
1:25:38 members who help
1:25:39 shape a name that honors our values reflects our vision and
1:25:42 positions us for
1:25:43 an exciting future Riverstone k-12 school is a name that
1:25:48 connects to the
1:25:48 history of Lockridge which we are look forward to joining that
1:25:51 community very
1:25:52 soon and a fresh start for the staff and students who have
1:25:56 diligently worked to
1:25:57 become the school we have grown to be over the past four years
1:26:00 on behalf of
1:26:02 our entire school community I want to thank dr. Rendell the

1:26:05 members district leaders all stakeholders and especially misty
1:26:09 plan
1:26:10 who really spearheaded this project and helped guide me in
1:26:13 leading the students

1:26:59 Blaine went back to 2023 but I want to go back to 2022 because
1:27:03 there’s so much
1:27:04 confusion I in the public who haven’t been paying attention over
1:27:09 the last four
1:27:09 years so I would love to get some of those questions answers so
1:27:12 why are we
1:27:13 opening this new school why are we doing all this so in 2022 we
1:27:18 used to have two
1:27:20 separate day schools a north and a south and that company that
1:27:22 we contracted with
1:27:23 came in the summer of 22 right after school year ended and said
1:27:27 we’re done
1:27:28 breaking the contract and with six weeks to put something
1:27:31 together the staff here
1:27:33 at ESF put something to and we didn’t we didn’t have teachers
1:27:37 those were their
1:27:38 teachers not our teachers grab teachers grab administrators
1:27:43 picked a place which
1:27:44 at the time the place that we had open was Garden Elementary
1:27:47 where we had the
1:27:47 North ALC up there and facilities threw together just something
1:27:53 and it was just
1:27:54 crazy and in six weeks miracles happened and we thought we’re
1:27:58 gonna do this for a
1:27:59 year the next year at the same company said yeah we’re not
1:28:02 coming back and so
1:28:03 we had a little bit longer that time to improve the facilities
1:28:07 to make them
1:28:08 really work and so that’s that’s why we have Gardendale and we
1:28:13 did the you guys
1:28:14 had amazing work with a facility that was not built for those
1:28:18 students and so
1:28:20 many people have said why don’t you put this goal in one of the
1:28:24 schools you just
1:28:25 closed down like we just closed down a bunch of schools first of
1:28:28 all we didn’t
1:28:28 we closed one and it’s even farther out of the way and part of
1:28:31 the problem with
1:28:32 Gardendale and I love Merritt Island is that it’s so far out of
1:28:36 the way for the
1:28:37 majority of the students and it’s such a long bus ride and by
1:28:39 putting it in
1:28:40 Rockledge put it there on the campus with Kennedy Middle School
1:28:42 we’re putting
1:28:42 in a more central location that is more easily accessed for
1:28:46 students from MIMS
1:28:47 to Malabar and so I just so much appreciate that and also for
1:28:50 people to
1:28:51 who don’t understand like this this is not just people have said
1:28:54 well why
1:28:54 aren’t you I thought we were doing inclusion and this is you
1:28:58 know the what
1:29:00 least restrictive environment there are students that we have a
1:29:03 very small
1:29:04 number of students that we have who the least restrictive
1:29:06 environment for them
1:29:07 is a separate day school but tell me Miss Polly how many
1:29:12 students ballpark I
1:29:14 know we had five students graduate this year but you had one
1:29:17 student who’s
1:29:17 actually he’s graduating but these are students who stay with us
1:29:19 till they’re
1:29:20 21 right he actually is going back into a regular school for his
1:29:26 up to 21
1:29:27 program right so how many how regular is it the students are
1:29:30 meeting their goals
1:29:31 and able to kind of transition back into a regular school
1:29:35 setting so this past
1:29:36 year I think we had approximately I think it was nine students
1:29:42 that left us
1:29:43 and have been successful on their least restrictive placement
1:29:46 which would be
1:29:47 their next step down from us and that’s continued to grow each
1:29:50 year that we’ve
1:29:51 been there we’ve continued to increase that number that is so
1:29:53 good I just want
1:29:54 to make sure people understood that we’re not we’re not putting
1:29:57 these kids
1:29:58 away they’ll never be seen in this new building so exciting it’s
1:30:01 gonna have CTE
1:30:02 labs and and spaces designed just for them so they can have more
1:30:07 experiences
1:30:08 and be more successful and I’m super excited about it so I just
1:30:11 wanted to
1:30:11 make sure we had that opportunity to share those details because
1:30:14 there’s a
1:30:14 lot of confusion as to why we’re doing and what it’s going to be
1:30:17 but we were
1:30:18 there today it’s gonna be beautiful and I’m so excited we’re
1:30:21 able to really do
1:30:22 what’s best for these kids when I first got elected some of my
1:30:34 colleagues had
1:30:35 said that you have to go over to Orlando and see the see that
1:30:37 school and Misty I
1:30:39 would say that you know I went there and I got to cut that your
1:30:43 excitement was
1:30:45 contagious and I came back really excited about this project and
1:30:49 I know
1:30:50 that you know we will be the place that everybody comes to tour
1:30:53 under your all
1:30:55 both your all’s direction and leadership so thank you for all
1:30:57 you did to get it
1:30:58 to this point because you know that was that was a largely your
1:31:01 drive that
1:31:01 pushed it Misty and got everybody excited and moving forward
1:31:05 with it so
1:31:05 thank you
1:31:09 yeah basically same of the same it you know it also is you
1:31:14 mentioned it it’s
1:31:16 exciting to be part of the the Rockledge community the Rockledge
1:31:18 community is
1:31:19 gonna be excited to have you guys there as well what a what a
1:31:23 service we’re
1:31:25 providing these students and again we were all over there today
1:31:28 it is going to
1:31:29 be you’re gonna have to have time set aside for other counties
1:31:33 coming in for
1:31:34 to tour this facility and but what was the most exciting part
1:31:38 about today it
1:31:38 wasn’t the building it wasn’t the downpour of rain that we got
1:31:42 it was
1:31:43 meeting your staff they are so excited if you don’t know they
1:31:47 had bus loads of
1:31:48 staff coming over and when when we just don’t say that that that
1:31:52 building wasn’t
1:31:53 gonna is not gonna be there if it wasn’t for you in the building
1:31:56 that means
1:31:57 everything I could just see it on their faces that they were
1:31:59 just excited they
1:32:00 weren’t excited about for themselves they’re gonna be in a new
1:32:02 building but
1:32:03 what it’s gonna mean for what they’re gonna provide for those
1:32:05 students so
1:32:06 but we’re all blessed right now we got great numbers this is
1:32:09 like celebrating
1:32:10 the you know that we should be hoisting a Super Bowl trophy up
1:32:13 here because of
1:32:15 everything is happening in Brevard so it’s a great time to be
1:32:18 here but a
1:32:19 little little extra for you missed it but I’ve seen you in times
1:32:23 where you
1:32:24 weren’t as you know excited about the future of of what we were
1:32:27 able to do
1:32:28 because you were just handcuffed and we just didn’t look so
1:32:30 bright the future I
1:32:31 remember the conversation we’re like this is what we have and
1:32:35 and I remember
1:32:36 the conversation we had it might have been about another school
1:32:39 and then I
1:32:39 just said then we need to change that and you know a few years
1:32:43 later I’m glad
1:32:44 you stuck around it takes a unique person to see this through
1:32:47 and missed a
1:32:48 year that person and thank you for sticking around but the
1:32:51 future is bright
1:32:51 and even at Riverstone so I appreciate it guys well I’m gonna
1:32:55 echo the same
1:32:56 sentiments honestly this is I have said all along I’m like miss
1:33:00 Bland needs to
1:33:00 get a lot of credit because I remember when I first got on this
1:33:03 board you
1:33:04 intentionally saying miss Wright come and see the school and I
1:33:06 didn’t fully
1:33:07 understand I think a lot of people didn’t understand because we’re
1:33:09 like
1:33:09 wait a minute Gardendale separate day school we have the
1:33:12 alternative learning
1:33:12 center there there was a lot of confusion that there was two
1:33:15 schools
1:33:15 that were running out of the same location and and then you
1:33:18 started to
1:33:18 reveal the story of the why why we are where we were and the
1:33:21 district did
1:33:22 everything they possibly could with limited resources and zero
1:33:25 time at all
1:33:26 so kudos for standing that school up but it was very apparent
1:33:29 from the minute I
1:33:30 walked in like this facility just doesn’t serve our most
1:33:33 vulnerable
1:33:33 students and I just thank you I thank you for advocating I know
1:33:37 there’s pie
1:33:38 days when you thought this is never gonna change and this is
1:33:40 going to be
1:33:40 what it is and you know and sometimes it feels like that because

1:39:28 difficult balance to
1:39:30 protect student privacy while prioritizing safety but the
1:39:34 effectiveness of this balance really depends on several things
1:39:38 staff training
1:39:39 consistent application and respect for both student rights and
1:39:44 the need for a
1:39:45 secure student environment I do have a problem with some of the
1:39:50 language of
1:39:50 this policy especially reasonable suspicion appropriate
1:39:55 circumstances and
1:39:57 the use of the word random this policy allows searches based on
1:40:02 reasonable
1:40:03 suspicion but does not define what constitutes reasonable
1:40:07 suspicion the
1:40:08 ambiguity will lead to inconsistent application and subjective
1:40:13 interpretation by staff increasing the risk of unfair or
1:40:18 discriminatory
1:40:19 searches for example one staff member might interpret a student’s
1:40:24 nervous
1:40:25 behavior as reasonable suspicion while another may not leading
1:40:29 to unequal
1:40:30 treatment school authorities are permitted to search students
1:40:34 their
1:40:34 property or vehicles without the students consent based on this
1:40:38 policy as
1:40:39 long as there is reasonable suspicion I’m really concerned about
1:40:44 the overreach
1:40:46 the policy requires that searches of a student’s person or
1:40:50 intimate belongings
1:40:52 be conducted by a staff member of the same gender if available
1:40:57 and in the
1:40:59 presence of another staff member of the same gender if available
1:41:05 what could go
1:41:06 wrong administrators are authorized to use breath test
1:41:11 instruments to determine
1:41:13 if a student has consumed alcohol some studies and legal reviews
1:41:18 estimate that
1:41:19 roughly 23% of breath tests can yield false blood alcohol
1:41:24 readings if a
1:41:24 student fails a breath test due to a medical condition or even a
1:41:28 recent rinse
1:41:29 with mouthwash they could face severe discipline without
1:41:33 recourse school
1:41:35 administrators are not trained law enforcement and they should
1:41:38 not act with
1:41:38 the same authority as law enforcement this policy allows staff
1:41:43 to walk around
1:41:44 with handheld ones and if it alerts they could justify a more
1:41:50 intrusive search

1:42:02 important terms and the superintendent and this board have not

1:42:16 much trust this policy will lead to significant problems it’s
1:42:21 inevitable

1:42:42 and seizure policy it intersects with our parental rights and
1:42:47 student privacy

1:42:56 point 0 8 the investigation any of these investigations they don’t
1:43:02 happen in a
1:43:03 vacuum so it must follow the protections outlined in policy 5 7
1:43:09 7 1 and that
1:43:11 means that schools cannot search and seize the students personal
1:43:14 device
1:43:15 without reasonable suspicion and they cannot demand access to
1:43:21 home devices or
1:43:22 private accounts simply because an assignment appears to be AI
1:43:26 generated AI
1:43:28 detection tools are not reliable and suspicion alone does not
1:43:34 meet the
1:43:35 standard requirements for a lawful search but it also requires
1:43:40 transparency
1:43:41 and parents was being notified when a search involves personal
1:43:46 property and
1:43:47 they have the right to access any records created during this
1:43:51 investigation
1:43:52 including teacher notes to AI detection reports and disciplinary
1:43:58 documentation
1:43:59 these become educational records protected under FERPA students
1:44:04 too are
1:44:05 entitled to due process they must be told the specific
1:44:10 allegation shown the
1:44:12 evidence and given an opportunity to explain or demonstrate
1:44:16 their work they
1:44:17 have the right to challenge the accuracy of the AI detection
1:44:23 tools and to provide
1:44:24 drafts or oral explanations any disciplinary action must be
1:44:30 proportionate documented and appealable we must move forward

1:46:14 principal is an elementary school everybody always thinks about

1:46:21 so and if you have an elementary student who needs to be
1:46:24 searched you know
1:46:25 there’s you know you do what you can and that’s why it’s all if
1:46:29 available but I
1:46:30 wanted just to address the the only changes the changes were
1:46:34 making we
1:46:35 someone did address one of the things that were the changes and
1:46:37 I had to do
1:46:37 with the ones I thought it might be helpful dr. Rendell if we
1:46:40 could because
1:46:41 there is that new line on letter K that talks about the the
1:46:46 random screenings
1:46:48 and how that what that might look like it’s my understanding
1:46:51 that if we have a
1:46:51 school that let’s say doesn’t have open gate yet we could bring
1:46:55 our portable
1:46:56 open gate one day and drop it in the bus loop and all the kids
1:46:59 that come off the
1:46:59 bus and that it would be that kind of thing or other
1:47:02 opportunities could you
1:47:03 either either you or have staff kind of explained what that
1:47:06 might look like so
1:47:07 it would lay those fears of it there could be several scenarios
1:47:11 where we
1:47:12 decide to do a screening of a group a selected group so for
1:47:15 example we got a
1:47:16 tip that a student in a certain classroom has contraband or
1:47:20 weapon or
1:47:20 something like that then we would search the entire class you
1:47:24 know that kind of
1:47:24 thing so if we have reason to believe we have some other contraband
1:47:29 on campus and
1:47:30 we might bring the drug dogs on campus and stuff like that so
1:47:34 those are some of
1:47:35 the scenarios that and this is standard this is not really new
1:47:39 right there are
1:47:40 other districts around the state to do random searches literally
1:47:43 every single
1:47:44 day they go to different classrooms and randomly search students
1:47:47 so it’s pretty
1:47:48 standard practice I’ve gone to one of those just toward them and
1:47:51 seeing this
1:47:51 take place and I was like wow that just happens after they’ve
1:47:53 already gone
1:47:54 through your weapons detection device yep they do it every
1:47:56 single day we’re
1:47:57 not doing anything that’s a new well okay well thank you so

1:48:47 previous awarded
1:48:47 contracts without board approval let me explain my objections to
1:48:51 this policy
1:48:52 2018 dr. Randall’s final year as superintendent in Newton River
1:48:57 County
1:48:58 part of them firing him the district discovered that
1:49:02 approximately 2.3
1:49:03 million dollars had been improperly transferred hang on just a
1:49:06 second let it
1:49:07 go okay okay thank you for not violating my rights this begs the
1:49:12 question of
1:49:12 whether dr. Randall personally directed the unsound accounting
1:49:16 practices this
1:49:17 incident exposed weaknesses in financial controls and internal
1:49:22 oversight which
1:49:23 dr. Randall was responsible for before dr. Randall was fired
1:49:27 from Indian River
1:49:28 just before you hired him for Brevard some Indian River school
1:49:33 board members
1:49:33 cited concerns in his evaluation specifically about finances
1:49:38 this policy
1:49:39 reduces direct oversight this increases risk reducing oversight
1:49:45 is a weakening
1:49:46 of safe safeguards so this is on you board the public will hold
1:49:50 you
1:49:50 accountable for issues that arise as a result now separately but
1:49:54 in the same
1:49:55 policy it also adds new language that allows the district to
1:49:59 cancel a contract
1:50:00 with a vendor if they feel the vendor made defamatory statements
1:50:04 about the
1:50:04 district who decides what’s defamatory you the board I’m
1:50:09 concerned about
1:50:10 selective enforcement which is something you already have been
1:50:14 doing with your
1:50:16 public comments policy that’s why you lost the lawsuit this year
1:50:19 to the tune
1:50:20 of five hundred and seventy thousand dollars due to viewpoint
1:50:23 discrimination
1:50:24 this policy could also chill legitimate criticism vendors
1:50:30 frequently discover
1:50:32 problems involving project delays safety concerns waste inefficiencies
1:50:37 if a
1:50:38 vendor knows that publicly criticizing the district could
1:50:41 jeopardize their
1:50:42 contracts they may remain silent even when their concerns are
1:50:46 legitimate that
1:50:47 can reduce transparency and although I recognize that
1:50:50 transparency is some
1:50:52 transparency is something that mr. Trent hates it’s something
1:50:55 the community
1:50:56 demands clearly there are First Amendment concerns about this I
1:51:00 don’t
1:51:00 even know where to start on that but finally we don’t need this
1:51:04 language
1:51:05 because you already have existing legal remedies if a vendor
1:51:10 makes defamatory
1:51:11 statements the district can pursue a defamation lawsuit if the
1:51:15 legal standard
1:51:16 is met so my concern is that one by reducing oversight you
1:51:21 increase the risk
1:51:22 of fiscal mismanagement of the district’s 1.6 billion dollar
1:51:27 budget and
1:51:27 you’re inviting expensive lawsuits if you disqualify vendors for
1:51:31 perceived
1:51:32 criticism this is a bad policy so I would like to kind of
1:51:39 respond there is
1:51:40 not an any discussion so first off I would anybody who comes to
1:51:49 the public
1:51:50 speaking many people don’t understand that they can just
1:51:52 randomly talk so
1:51:53 there is no the speaker was incorrect about the increase with dr.
1:51:56 Wendell we
1:51:57 took care of that the other thing that was kind of really
1:52:02 disrespectful was to
1:52:03 take the situation that was happening in Indian River and apply
1:52:07 it somehow to
1:52:07 this which just so everybody understands the facts are is is
1:52:11 that the Attorney
1:52:13 General cleared dr. Wendell of any of those financial issues and
1:52:17 when he was
1:52:17 being hired it was an issue that came up and I provided a copy
1:52:21 to every single
1:52:21 board member that cleared him so those are some of the false
1:52:24 statements and we
1:52:25 don’t appreciate when people just randomly yell in the back of
1:52:27 the room
1:52:27 you had your opportunity anybody else
1:52:33 it’s confusing and I think the speaker made it more confusing we
1:52:37 did not raise
1:52:38 the limits of what dr. Rendell can approve but we did raise that
1:52:42 what he
1:52:42 can approve when it comes to amendments and change orders that’s
1:52:45 a specific
1:52:46 thing if they are non-monetary amendments or if they are
1:52:51 amendments of
1:52:51 20% or $50,000 whichever is less so when construction projects
1:52:56 don’t have to be
1:52:57 brought back to us if there are large multi-million dollar
1:53:00 projects and
1:53:00 there’s a small change or it doesn’t have to come back to the
1:53:02 board that’s
1:53:03 what we increased on this I did want to address because we’ve
1:53:06 had a lot of
1:53:07 conversation about defamation but Paul is criticism the same as
1:53:12 defamation no
1:53:13 it’s criticism the same as verbal or physical abuse no it’s
1:53:18 criticism the
1:53:19 same as threatening a district employee no so I would say that
1:53:22 our item since
1:53:23 that’s language it includes verbal or physical abuse threatening

1:53:27 employee making defamatory statements since it’s not the same as

1:56:03 there are questions about student information protections which
1:56:10 this
1:56:10 revision of the policy specifically addresses and even if it

1:56:14 specifically say in this policy our employees are bound by FERPA
1:56:20 to make
1:56:20 sure that our student information is protected but mr. Cheatham
1:56:23 shared with
1:56:24 us last week when we had our first our last public hearing that
1:56:28 this language
1:56:29 we specifically repeated that type of language in this policy to
1:56:32 make sure
1:56:32 it’s ultra clear the student information must be protected and
1:56:36 employees are not
1:56:37 actually allowed to put student information into the AI
1:56:42 platforms for
1:56:43 that reason anything with any kind of identifying information
1:56:46 they want to use
1:56:47 it to help create a lesson or do those things but not student
1:56:50 information that
1:56:51 was addressed specifically in this policy or something else that
1:56:56 I had
1:56:57 written down sorry I got to go back to my right parental
1:57:01 notification part of
1:57:03 the policy says that the district will keep a list of the
1:57:09 software programs and
1:57:11 everything on the district website which mr. Cheatham I’m gonna
1:57:13 not head not
1:57:14 that’s we’re about right a roll with that right right if they’re
1:57:21 adding it
1:57:21 right now so that will be there and as this the question of
1:57:26 offering closed AI
1:57:28 open AI this time we’re sticking with closed AI for lots of
1:57:34 reasons but I
1:57:36 would say that you know it’s interesting one of the things we
1:57:40 approved on this
1:57:41 agenda board is some CTE in the item that had the CTE fees like
1:57:47 the five
1:57:47 dollars CTE program we’re actually in our middle schools there’s
1:57:51 an AI class
1:57:52 certification that we that is in there is approved and it’s part
1:57:57 of that so I
1:57:58 think where we are right now this is this is dipping our
1:58:04 proverbial toe into
1:58:06 the waters in a safe way but the other thing that we have to
1:58:09 consider is I’m
1:58:10 as treatment shared this with the board several times is we don’t
1:58:14 have it would
1:58:15 be almost impossible for us to do opt-in opt-out for every
1:58:18 single software
1:58:19 program they would have so we have an overall your student
1:58:22 either has
1:58:22 interacts internet access or they don’t and so because we don’t
1:58:26 have that
1:58:27 ability to say yes no yes no yes no for every little thing this
1:58:30 is why we have
1:58:31 we’re limiting to I believe is one of the reasons why we’re
1:58:34 limiting to the
1:58:35 closed AI platforms because we want to make sure those parents
1:58:39 concerns are
1:58:40 addressed but I think this policy puts all those pieces in place
1:58:43 that people
1:58:43 have the most concerns with especially when it comes to student
1:58:47 information
1:58:48 protection did I go long enough mr. says thank you anybody else
1:58:54 so the policy
1:58:56 creates a committee that oversees any of the inflow of
1:58:59 individuals and any any AI
1:59:01 programs creates a website that goes ahead and oversees any of
1:59:05 them approved
1:59:06 so people can go there to see it there’s an approval process
1:59:09 from the student
1:59:10 classroom from the teacher to the principal principals held
1:59:13 accountable to
1:59:14 send it up for the website we also have disciplinary actions
1:59:18 inside of there for
1:59:19 student behavior teacher behavior principal behavior so it acts
1:59:25 as a kind
1:59:26 of an umbrella one of the things that we’re going to do is is
1:59:29 the actual

2:01:37 foundation they they were so gracious to pack I think how many
2:01:41 backpacks to me in
2:01:42 at packing miss Campbell was it okay so just want to thank all
2:01:46 the volunteers
2:01:47 that showed up served on their Saturday two Saturdays in a row
2:01:50 actually but
2:01:51 stuffing backpacks to give out to children that that you know
2:01:55 may need
2:01:56 those resources so lots of volunteers lots of our vendors that
2:01:59 we do work with
2:02:00 they showed up so it was really cool to see some of them show up
2:02:03 and give back
2:02:03 to the community in that day also I want to give a shout out to
2:02:07 my church I’m
2:02:08 gonna give a shout out to which I’m sure so this makes some
2:02:10 people happy but they
2:02:12 they every single year we pick schools in the north end they
2:02:15 pick schools I’m
2:02:16 not part of this to intentionally go and help that school with
2:02:20 the beautification
2:02:20 projects and so this year they expanded from four schools to
2:02:23 five schools and
2:02:24 they raise thousands of dollars and they bring hundreds of
2:02:27 volunteers together
2:02:28 and it truly is a time to just descend and love on a school so I
2:02:32 was I was
2:02:33 gracious enough to be part of a team we had about 75 of us at
2:02:36 Space Coast and
2:02:37 boy was it hot but boy we knocked out some projects around there
2:02:40 just silly
2:02:41 things like banners that maybe you know we have them hang on the
2:02:44 fence but
2:02:44 because it’s Florida and we get storms they get ripped down and
2:02:46 they need to be
2:02:47 replaced it doesn’t look good when they’re halfway hanging off
2:02:49 of a fence
2:02:50 so that was one of the projects we did some major plant beds in
2:02:54 the front that
2:02:55 just made it look better you know get it ready for school and so
2:02:57 I just want to
2:02:58 thank the volunteers that gave up in their time on their
2:03:00 treasure and their
2:03:01 talent and came and sweat their rear ends off for multiple hours
2:03:05 at the
2:03:05 multiple different school sites because I believe it just shows
2:03:08 how much our
2:03:09 community truly loves our schools and so thank you to all the
2:03:11 members that were
2:03:12 part of that and that’s all that I have all right so I represent
2:03:20 the board as
2:03:22 the charter and choice liaison and in earlier this month Dr.
2:03:30 Meyer puts
2:03:31 brought together all the charter school principals to you know
2:03:34 our BPS
2:03:35 principals sometimes come together they do like they did last
2:03:37 week at the summit
2:03:38 and just have a glut of training they had all day from like
2:03:41 eight o’clock to
2:03:41 4 30 worth of training getting all the updates and as they gave
2:03:46 me some time at
2:03:47 the end of meeting just to address some questions and talk to
2:03:49 him about things
2:03:50 that were going on and one of the things that the charter school
2:03:54 principal said
2:03:55 to me was please make sure that you recognize and they listed
2:03:58 off a bunch of
2:03:59 people because they have been so helpful to us so responsive to
2:04:03 us and they
2:04:04 really appreciated the training so I wanted to mention I know I’m
2:04:07 gonna miss
2:04:07 somebody but I wanted to give a shout out to some of the people
2:04:10 who are part
2:04:10 of that training first of all Melinda Mayer she’s amazing and
2:04:13 Cheryl Turner
2:04:14 who work there kind of our liaisons with the charter schools and
2:04:17 make sure that
2:04:18 they have all the accountability piece pieces that they need and
2:04:21 you know we
2:04:21 approved the extension of a charter tonight and they make sure
2:04:24 that those
2:04:25 charter schools are you know crossing every T and dotting every
2:04:30 I also Dr.
2:04:31 Jana Jenkins from student services Frank Stockman who helps them
2:04:34 a lot of the
2:04:35 funding accountability measures people from HR to talked about
2:04:40 certification
2:04:41 like Lynette Thorsten Thorstenson I did it and Sharon Doran
2:04:46 Janet
2:04:47 Stevenson talked about school improvement plans and then
2:04:50 district
2:04:50 security came over and introduced you know talked about the walkthroughs
2:04:54 and
2:04:54 and talked about the new the new app that we’re using for
2:05:00 security and so
2:05:01 they just were very appreciative and so kudos to all those team
2:05:04 members for
2:05:04 putting together that day long training for our charter schools
2:05:07 principals to
2:05:08 make sure that they have what they need so that to be
2:05:10 accountable and then Dr.
2:05:12 and I wanted to make sure since this is our board first board
2:05:14 meeting after our
2:05:15 principal and assistant principal of the year that make sure we
2:05:17 we mentioned
2:05:18 those and but then that so I’m my last one is last week I got to
2:05:23 attend the
2:05:24 cafeteria manager kickoff so they Kevin Thornton brought all the
2:05:29 food
2:05:29 nutrition services the cafeteria managers and the people were
2:05:31 trained to
2:05:32 be a cafeteria manager and his leadership team and they did
2:05:35 three days
2:05:36 of PD I get was so great there were people from Volusia County
2:05:39 coming down
2:05:40 to see what they’re doing so food nutrition services always does
2:05:43 an
2:05:43 amazing job and at the end they had an award ceremony where they
2:05:47 recognize
2:05:48 people who had been with us for five years ten years 15 20 25
2:05:52 years we even
2:05:53 have a mother-daughter team that the mother is the cafeteria
2:05:58 manager down at
2:05:59 Jupiter and her daughter has been working now for five years and
2:06:03 she’s now
2:06:03 the manager at Meadow Lane so it was just a great a great time
2:06:08 and they were
2:06:09 very sweet to me but I just wanted to let you know that I they
2:06:15 all talk to
2:06:16 each other and they know some of the things that I have been to
2:06:18 and put the
2:06:19 hair net on so just expect your invitations get your hair nets

2:06:23 because they specifically wanted to know miss Campbell after you’re
2:06:26 gone are your
2:06:27 board members going to come and do some of these things I’m like
2:06:29 yes yes they
2:06:30 will so just be ready for the invitations for your hairnet

2:06:34 because we have such great cafeteria staff and their leaders are
2:06:38 are doing

2:06:45 one of the unique facts that not many people know is that the
2:06:48 Florida LeLich
2:06:49 a league which is the breastfeeding moms you have a huge plus
2:06:53 with Brevard and
2:06:54 the reason is is that we have the only school district in the
2:06:58 entire state of
2:06:59 Florida that actually has designated breastfeeding rooms for
2:07:03 women and if you
2:07:04 know anything about that what happens is is in our schools if
2:07:08 you know anything
2:07:09 about breastfeeding what it is is that if but I’ve had a bunch
2:07:13 of kids so but
2:07:14 the thing is is that we actually have situations before we did
2:07:17 it and it goes
2:07:18 on across the across the state where moms will try to breastfeed
2:07:21 during the
2:07:22 day in school and they’ll have to do it inside their classroom
2:07:24 there’s an
2:07:24 opportunity for people to walk in it’s really crazy but we’ve
2:07:27 also we have the
2:07:28 longest leave policy I think in the state of Florida for moms it’s
2:07:33 six weeks
2:07:34 so that’s total number of days yes total number of days and the
2:07:37 thing is is that
2:07:38 a lot of our other districts so anyways they reached out and
2:07:41 they wanted to do a
2:07:42 thing with us and say thank you for that and I just want to give
2:07:44 you a heads up
2:07:45 on that I’m also gonna ask you guys dr. indell’s looking at his
2:07:49 dates but we’re
2:07:50 gonna do that off-site we all agreed to do in September to kind
2:07:52 of review for
2:07:53 the rest of the year we also have the teachers of years of
2:07:56 service that we
2:07:57 have that project going on I talked to
2:08:03 mr. Winston over at the zoo and I was kind of hinting it and I
2:08:06 didn’t do a
2:08:07 good example of it we do so much inside the space of our zoos
2:08:11 and Guy Harvey and
2:08:12 everything else that he said he would like to try to coordinate
2:08:16 all of those
2:08:16 efforts so it’s one website where people can go and see the
2:08:19 opportunities this is
2:08:20 when you’re going to be doing beach cleanups and all of those
2:08:23 things but
2:08:24 then also where they can get somebody that’s a a volunteer to
2:08:28 come in and do
2:08:29 some of the zoo stuff inside their schools like all that in one
2:08:31 place where
2:08:32 they can go to find out he’s gonna help us assist with us and do
2:08:35 that that was
2:08:36 real exciting we also have the naming of the stem labs member we
2:08:39 talked about
2:08:40 doing that that’s now we got to gear up and go so it’s gonna be
2:08:42 that they’re
2:08:43 gonna name the astronauts after that there’s a very unique
2:08:47 astronaut that’s
2:08:48 gonna oversee the coordination of it she’s amazing she’s very
2:08:52 well respected
2:08:53 among all of them I said I said I need to know the person that
2:08:57 when she picks
2:08:58 up or he picks up the phone other astronauts will answer and so
2:09:01 I asked
2:09:01 mr. bridges a man who basically developed the privatization of
2:09:06 NASA and
2:09:06 he said that’s her so we’re gonna announce her name and do a
2:09:09 real big
2:09:10 thing and then she’s gonna help assist with all of that I did
2:09:13 get named for the
2:09:15 AI central or middle mid-level districts program overview so
2:09:20 that means that
2:09:21 whatever policy we develop then they will take a look at and it’s
2:09:24 in
2:09:25 coordination with that coastal communities Florida it’s with it
2:09:34 might
2:09:34 be that it’s with the Miami well the greater Florida consortium
2:09:39 of school
2:09:39 boards that’s it that’s it it’s all there they all have
2:09:42 different names but
2:09:43 that’s what I was gonna do also I wanted to tell you guys our
2:09:47 elementary schools
2:09:47 are gonna have some competition and in the sports so I’ve been
2:09:51 walking around
2:09:51 talking to some of these other superintendents and principals
2:09:54 and
2:09:54 other districts Miami Dade’s challenged us to Soto schools
2:09:58 challenged us
2:09:58 Hendridge County schools challenge this Hillsborough County
2:10:01 schools challenges
2:10:01 to Orange County challenges so they may be bringing over some
2:10:04 football flag
2:10:05 football teams I talked to dr. Endell about it he said as long
2:10:08 as it doesn’t
2:10:08 bother with staff and it we set it up through a third party and
2:10:11 it’s set up
2:10:12 that way we can do it so I think we’re in a good spot but that
2:10:15 elementary
2:10:15 school is about to explode we had that conversation yeah pretty
2:10:23 close to that
2:10:24 and then just wanted to let you guys know there’s an
2:10:27 organization run with
2:10:29 it’s a kind of a farm-to-table kind of explanation it’s really
2:10:33 really cool it’s
2:10:34 called dirt Academy and so what they did was the dirt Academy is
2:10:38 an organization
2:10:40 that basically talks about how you can use your classroom beds
2:10:44 and grow all of
2:10:45 the different things that you’re gonna farm to table so I’m
2:10:47 gonna move with
2:10:49 setting up what we had last year which was where we grow things
2:10:53 inside of our
2:10:54 outdoor classrooms that we then use inside of our for the kids
2:10:59 like we do a
2:11:00 Cinco de Mayo where we grow peppers and tomatoes and then they
2:11:04 cut up a couple
2:11:05 of them but then food services brings in like a dip for the day
2:11:10 you know that I
2:11:10 mean and stuff like that so it’s really cool some of that stuff
2:11:13 so I want to let
2:11:14 you know about that and then also I’m gonna bring a bunch of
2:11:17 policies to the
2:11:18 next board meeting to overview just for you guys to kind of look
2:11:21 at and then
2:11:21 we’ll bring back some ideas in the future I don’t see where you
2:11:23 guys are at
2:11:24 all right and they’re all the stuff that we’ve already talked
2:11:27 about that we
2:11:27 wanted to implement okay everybody got that all right with that

2:11:32 Dr. Endo yeah sure I have several things no one couple board

2:11:37 the superintendent’s summit so it’s a two-day training event
2:11:40 that we do at the
2:11:41 end of the summer really it’s kind of a back-to-school event for
2:11:43 the leadership
2:11:44 teams the principals and the assistant principals from all of
2:11:47 our schools some
2:11:48 of its updating them on legislative changes new policies doing
2:11:51 things but
2:11:53 it’s also time to celebrate and we announced a couple winners of
2:11:59 some
2:11:59 certain activities so one is the principal of the year and the
2:12:01 assistant
2:12:02 principal of the year so we did announce the assistant principal
2:12:04 of the year and
2:12:05 we’re gonna bring them to a future board meeting to be honored
2:12:07 here but Brian
2:12:08 Callahan was an assistant principal at Bayside High School and
2:12:10 he was named
2:12:11 assistant principal of the year he is now at O’Gally High School
2:12:14 so he’s
2:12:15 taking his talents over to O’Gally but he earned this for his
2:12:18 work at Bayside
2:12:19 and then principal here was Beth Meyers most recently at Riviera
2:12:23 she’s won all
2:12:23 kinds of accolades for her leadership at Riviera and now we’ve
2:12:26 transferred her to
2:12:27 Creole Elementary so she’s gonna take her magic over there and
2:12:31 you know do her
2:12:32 her magic work there we also went to the state teacher of the
2:12:37 year gala last week
2:12:39 to honor our our teacher of the year Michelle Hannes who is at
2:12:44 Melbourne High
2:12:45 School she’s an ESOL teacher and all the other 67 or 70 odd
2:12:49 teachers of the year
2:12:50 from around the state but since we do have the school related
2:12:52 employee of the
2:12:53 year Chris Hadaway the SRO from Rockledge they also honored him
2:12:56 it’s
2:12:57 quite a celebration you know so Brevard getting on stage twice
2:13:00 so to speak and
2:13:01 lots of stuff to celebrate with our employees last few weeks I
2:13:05 did go to the
2:13:06 BSF the Bard Schools Foundation backpack giveaway so not the day
2:13:10 we packed the
2:13:11 backpacks for the day we gave away the backpacks hundreds and
2:13:14 hundreds of
2:13:15 backpacks giving away hundreds and hundreds of families coming
2:13:18 through
2:13:18 quite the operation in fact what I like to point out is it wasn’t
2:13:22 just backpacks
2:13:23 so many different community agencies were there providing
2:13:26 services to these
2:13:27 families free dental screenings free health screenings you can
2:13:30 get your
2:13:31 sports physical there all kinds of resources made available to
2:13:36 our our
2:13:36 families in our community and that was all voluntary you know
2:13:39 from all those
2:13:39 different organizations to be there and be a part of that I
2:13:41 really want to thank
2:13:42 the board Schools Foundation for putting that on you’re not just
2:13:45 getting the
2:13:45 backpacks and everything school supplies but working with those
2:13:48 community
2:13:49 partners to get them there and the last thing is today in
2:13:52 between meetings I
2:13:53 snuck over to EFSC’s CoCo campus to the welding lab so those you
2:13:58 don’t know the
2:13:59 EFSC CoCo campus has some vocational training programs one of
2:14:03 them is welding
2:14:04 and the EFSC CoCo campus is very close to CoCo high school so a
2:14:09 year ago we
2:14:10 started a partnership with CoCo high school and EFSC where
2:14:15 students who are
2:14:15 interested in becoming welders high school students interested
2:14:18 in becoming
2:14:19 welders they could enroll in this program it’s a two-year
2:14:22 program starting
2:14:24 the summer of their junior year summer before their junior year
2:14:28 they go to the
2:14:28 EFSC welding lab six hours a day during the summer and well they
2:14:33 begin their
2:14:34 welding courses in the summer and then during their junior year
2:14:37 in the summer
2:14:38 after their senior year I mean summer after their junior year
2:14:40 and then so we’re
2:14:42 going into their senior year rather they’re still welding so
2:14:45 basically a
2:14:45 year and a half two years worth of welding but when they
2:14:48 graduate high
2:14:49 school they will graduate with their AS degree in welding as
2:14:53 well so the first
2:14:54 cohort started last year so I went to visit them little did I
2:14:58 know they were
2:14:59 already in the second welding lab because the first the cohort
2:15:04 for this
2:15:04 year so the second cohort was already starting in the first lab
2:15:08 so I’ve got
2:15:09 pictures of all these kids kids young adults welding and it’s
2:15:13 amazing the time
2:15:14 commitment that these young people have given to this program I
2:15:17 joke with them
2:15:19 that a lot of their peers are probably sitting in air
2:15:21 conditioning playing
2:15:22 video games and instead they’re spending six hours a day in the
2:15:25 summer welding in
2:15:27 the heat no air conditioning but learning a trade a skill that’s
2:15:30 going
2:15:31 to lead them to a very high wage career right out of high school
2:15:34 so encouraging
2:15:35 them to continue on this path it’s a long two-year sequence but
2:15:38 really
2:15:39 excited to see them today and so I come to check in with them
2:15:42 every couple
2:15:42 months to make sure they’re staying on track but the instructors
2:15:46 are really
2:15:47 impressed with the work ethic of these kids they said they have
2:15:50 adults that
2:15:51 enroll in these can’t in these courses and they drop out after a
2:15:55 period of time
2:15:56 because they can’t it’s hard they don’t act they don’t just they
2:16:00 don’t have the
2:16:01 work ethic that these high school kids have so pretty excited to
2:16:04 see this and
2:16:05 something we’ll probably replicate it some other locations but
2:16:07 really good for
2:16:08 the Coco community and the kids at Coco in fact two of the
2:16:10 students weren’t even
2:16:11 from Coco High there’s one from Maryland one from Coco Beach so
2:16:14 they’re still
2:16:15 availing themselves of the program pretty good stuff that’s
2:16:19 great that’s
